Rounded down to the supplied lot step. This estimate uses a constant unit value and only the costs entered above. It does not check margin, validate an order or place a trade. Currency conversion, spread, slippage, gaps and changing tick values can increase the actual loss. Verify the result with your broker.

How it works

Your selected risk budget is your balance times your risk percentage. Divide it by the estimated loss per lot: stop distance times the pip or tick value, plus any costs you enter. The calculator rounds down to the supplied broker lot step and maximum. If no valid size meets the broker minimum, it shows that the budget cannot fit a position.

The hard part isn't the arithmetic — it's that the trade where you most want to override the answer is the trade where the answer matters most. A calculator tells you 0.47 lots; it can't stop you typing 2.0 after three losses.
