Hosting

Self-hosting

Prefer that nothing sensitive leaves your machine? Run Risk Marshal yourself, on your own PC or server. Your MT5 master password stays where it is — we never receive it.

How it works

  • You install Risk Marshal on your MetaTrader 5 terminal and attach it to a chart with your license key.
  • Journal records activity without closing or resizing trades. Core and Pro add enforcement of your configured rules through the connected, authorized Risk Marshal.
  • Risk Marshal sends recorded activity to your dashboard. Journal can record activity with investor access; financial enforcement needs trading access in MT5. Broker passwords stay in your terminal.

The trade-off

Keep your terminal running and connected during your trading hours. A stopped terminal cannot record new activity or apply rules. Connection or permission problems can interrupt recording and enforcement. Orders may execute before Risk Marshal responds, so enforcement cannot guarantee that every breach or loss is prevented.

Many self-hosters run the terminal on a small server for this reason. If you'd rather not maintain one, managed hosting does it for you.

Requirements

  • MetaTrader 5; enforcement also needs trading access and Algo Trading enabled.
  • A machine that stays on and connected during your trading hours.
  • One allowed-URL setting in MT5 so Risk Marshal can reach our servers — the single most common setup snag, covered step-by-step in the docs.
  • Self-hosting is available on Journal, Core and Pro.
