Compatibility

Brokers & platforms

Risk Marshal runs on MetaTrader 5 and works with any MT5-compatible broker that permits automated risk management. Your broker handles trade execution; Risk Marshal applies the financial limits you authorize.

The short version

  • Platform: MetaTrader 5 (MT4 is not supported).
  • Brokers: any broker that offers MT5 and permits automated risk management.
  • Account types: personal, funded, and prop-firm challenge accounts.
  • Symbol suffixes: handled automatically — XAUUSDm, EURUSD.raw, and similar all map to the right rules.

Why we don't publish a broker list

Risk Marshal connects through MT5. Broker, server and account permissions affect compatibility, so check your account during setup. A broker’s appearance here does not imply a commercial partnership.

Common questions

Which platforms does Risk Marshal support?

MetaTrader 5 only. Risk Marshal records activity and applies supported financial limits on your MT5 account. Your broker still handles trade execution.

Which brokers work?

Risk Marshal connects through MetaTrader 5. Your broker must permit automated risk management on your account type. Broker, server and account permissions affect compatibility, so check your account during setup. We do not require a commercial partnership with your broker.

Does MT4 work?

No. Risk Marshal is MT5-only. There is no MT4 build today.

My broker adds a suffix to symbols (like XAUUSDm or EURUSD.raw). Is that a problem?

No. Risk Marshal normalises broker symbol suffixes, so instrument rules you set for gold or EURUSD apply correctly regardless of how your broker names the symbol.

Does it work with prop-firm accounts?

Supported MT5 prop-firm accounts can connect. Confirm that your firm permits automated risk management on your account type; see our prop-firm page for how personal limits relate to firm rules.

Do you need my broker password?

With your own MT5 setup, your trading password stays in MT5; optional investor access is read-only. Managed setup needs your trading credentials to sign in and apply the financial limits you authorize. Those credentials are encrypted when stored.

Can Risk Marshal withdraw or move my money?

Risk Marshal cannot withdraw or transfer funds and never asks for banking or wallet credentials. Core and Pro can attempt to close positions, cancel pending orders or reduce position sizes under the financial limits you authorize. Journal records activity without those trade actions.

Setup takes a few minutes — see installing Risk Marshal, or read about managed hosting if you'd rather not run a terminal yourself.
