Install Risk Marshal on your MT5 setup

Connect your own MT5 setup for Journal recording or Core and Pro financial protection.

Journal's EA records your trades and works with investor access. Core and Pro add configured rule enforcement. You can upgrade on the same account and license: log in to MT5 with trading access and enable Algo Trading. Keep local broker passwords in MT5. A paid upgrade or connected EA alone does not prove protection is active.

Step 1 — Download the EA

  • Open Dashboard → Setup & Activation.
  • Click Download Risk Marshal.
  • Save the installer or .ex5 file to your computer.

Step 2 — Install the EA

  • Open the downloaded installer and follow the prompts, or copy RiskMarshal.ex5 into MT5: File → Open Data Folder → MQL5 → Experts.
  • Restart MetaTrader 5 if you copied the file manually.

Step 3 — Open MetaTrader 5

  • Launch MT5 and log in to your trading account.
  • Confirm you can see your balance and charts.

Step 4 — Enable Algo Trading

  • Locate the Algo Trading button on the toolbar.
  • Turn it on — RiskMarshal cannot enforce rules when Algo Trading is disabled.

Step 5 — Open the Expert Advisors panel

  • View → Navigator (or Ctrl+N).
  • Expand Expert Advisors.
  • Locate RiskMarshal EA.

Step 6 — Attach EA to a chart

  • Open any chart.
  • Double-click RiskMarshal EA, or drag it onto the chart.
  • The EA settings window should open.

Step 7 — Enter your license key

  • Return to Setup & Activation and copy your license key.
  • In the EA Inputs tab, paste the key (for example LicenseKey = RMSH-XXXX-XXXX).

Step 7b — Allow the RiskMarshal server URL (REQUIRED)

This is the #1 reason activation fails. If the URL below is not in the allowed list, MetaTrader blocks the connection and the EA shows “License verify rejected (HTTP -1)” — even when your subscription and license key are completely valid. It is a connection setting, not a billing problem.

  • Open Tools → Options → Expert Advisors.
  • Tick “Allow WebRequest for listed URL”.
  • Click the input box and add exactly: https://api.riskmarshal.com
  • Click OK to save.
  • Remove the EA from the chart and re-attach it (or restart MetaTrader) so it reconnects.

Step 8 — Activate the EA

  • Click OK and wait for initialization.
  • The EA downloads your rules, account settings, and registers with RiskMarshal.

Step 9 — Verify connection

Return to Setup & Activation and check connection and protection status separately. Journal should show collection. Core and Pro need trading access, Algo Trading and current enforcement authorization. Use Test My Setup to review the available checks.

Step 10 — Verify rule enforcement

On Core or Pro, configured rules can close or reduce positions while enforcement is active. Execution can fail or pause, including during an extended connection outage. Confirm Protection Status and your configured rules before relying on enforcement. Journal continues to record and review activity without taking trade actions.
